About the Attorney

Jay P. Lechner, B.C.S., has been practicing law for 23 years; Board Certified in Labor & Employment Law from 2009 to 2024.

Our history

Established in 2019, Lechner Law’s mission is to provide high-quality legal services to employers and select individuals in all aspects of employment law matters, specializing in employment litigation. Prior to starting his own firm, Mr. Lechner honed his skills for several years as partner for a large, multi-national defense firm. He then headed up a statewide employment practice dedicated to representing individuals. Before attending law school, Mr. Lechner spent several years in management and served as a volunteer firefighter.

Recognition

Mr. Lechner was recognized as “Lawyer of the Year” in 2018 and 2020 for Employment Law – Management in Saint Petersburg, Florida. He was a member of the Executive Council of the Florida Bar Labor & Employment Section, where he was selected as “Volunteer of the Year” in 2017. He is former Chair of the Florida Bar Journal/News editorial board and a Chapter Editor of the Fair Labor Standards Act treatise published annually by Bloomberg Law. From 2021 to 2022, Mr. Lechner taught Employment Law as an Adjunct Professor at USF’s MCOB School of Information Systems & Management.

Mr. Lechner is admitted to practice in Florida’s Middle, Southern and Northern Districts, as well as the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals and all Florida state courts. He received his B.A. from the University of Florida and his J.D. with honors from the University of Florida’s Levin College of Law.
